This role is responsible for Accounting, Forecasting, and Reporting for Business Units serviced by the Financial Performance and Control Team. This position provides support, financial services, and advice that will enable business units to develop and deliver timely and accurate Financial Management information to the relevant senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Month-End Close: Review junior team members’ manual journals, prepare month-end journals, calculate month-end accruals, review and finalize month-end close for allocated areas as per distributed timetable, and perform high-level financial analysis on ancillary activity, profitability performance, and forecasts to identify areas for improvement and rationalization.

  • Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Ownership of balance sheet reconciliations, completing complex balance sheet reconciliations, escalating outstanding issues on a timely basis, as well as reviewing and signing off of junior team members’ balance sheet recs.

  • Intercompany Charges: Preparing complex intercompany recharges including preparation of journal and back-up as required, managing and confirming intercompany balances, responding to queries from business units, and providing a response or escalating as appropriate.

  • Reporting: Producing the risks and opportunities outlook file monthly, providing input for month-end management packs and meetings; the scope of this requirement is determined by account category, developing an in-depth understanding of the monthly results, and providing detailed and insightful commentary as required, as well as preparing materials for half year and year-end such as Left-hand Notes and continuities.

  • Forecasting: Performing high levels of financial analysis that identify performance trends and forecasts targets, end-to-end ownership of the detailed forecast model, producing and reviewing forecasts/budget for allocated areas and updating data as required following detailed consultation with the business unit, developing a detailed understanding of complex driver-based forecast models to ensure accuracy and flexibility is maintained, developing complex forecast/budget model, forecasting inputs to enable accurate completion of the forecast model as well as conducting analysis to be used for developing strategies for the achievement of profit targets.

  • People Leadership: Managing individual performance by defining performance expectations and effectively managing underperformance, driving a high-performance culture through regular coaching and constructive feedback with staff, as well as prioritizing activities and projects.

  • Continuous Improvement: Driving change with the business, business partners, and FSS managers to align a position on the material and subjective accruals, conducting analysis to be used for developing continuous improvement strategies, identifying opportunities for improvement in systems, practices, and procedures, and implementing continuous improvement projects.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and oral

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in finance and financial analysis.

  • Graduate degree in finance or a relevant discipline

  • Postgraduate qualification (e.g. CP, CFA, or CPA) is desirable

  • Strong ability to communicate financial concepts to a non-financial savvy audience

  • Advanced knowledge of relevant finance system/process

  • Advanced knowledge of accounting principles
