Our employers are looking for roofers who can install, repair or replace flat roofs as well as shingles, shakes or other roofing tiles on sloped roofs. On the other hand, Shinglers can install and replace shingles, tiles and similar coverings on sloped roofs.
Responsibilities:
Install, repair, or replace built-up roofing systems using materials such as asphalt-saturated felts and hot asphalt and gravel.
Install, repair, or replace single-ply roofing systems using waterproof sheet materials such as modified plastics, elastomeric, or other asphaltic compositions.
Install, repair, or replace shingles, shakes, and other roofing tiles on sloped roofs of buildings.
Install sheet metal flashings.
Apply waterproof coatings to concrete or other masonry surfaces below or above ground level.
Install and repair metal roofs using hand and power tools.
Set up scaffolding to provide safe access to roofs.
May estimate materials required and quote costs.
Requirements:
Roofers
Install, repair, or replace roofing systems as described above for built-up and single-ply applications.
May be involved in setting up scaffolding and applying waterproof coatings.
May provide material estimates and cost quotes.
For roofers, completion of a two- to three-year apprenticeship program or over three years of work experience in the trade is usually required to be eligible for trade certification.
Completion of secondary school is required.
Intermediate English proficiency equivalent to IELTS 4.5–5.0.
Shinglers
Install or replace asphalt shingles, wood shingles and shakes, and masonry or baked clay roofing tiles on sloped roofs.
Set up scaffolding to provide safe access to roofs.
Completion of secondary school is required.
Intermediate English proficiency equivalent to IELTS 4.5–5.0.
Eligibility:
You are eligible to register on the Talent Catalog if you meet both of these criteria.
You are a refugee, a stateless person, or in a situation where you are displaced from your home country and unable to return permanently because you believe that you would face danger or human rights violations there, and,
You do not currently have another lasting solution to resolve your displacement, such as citizenship in another country where you can access human rights.
