Welcoming and inclusive communities for all

It’s no secret that refugees and other displaced people who are given the opportunity to move internationally for work, benefit profoundly from the chance to resume their lives in safe countries with proper job security and full access to their human rights.

But this positive outcome isn’t a one-way street. At Talent Beyond Boundaries, we see first-hand how much host countries benefit when they decide to welcome skilled refugees.

Local businesses gain experienced, loyal employees and benefit from the fresh new skills they bring. This, in turn, gives national economies a boost.

Most importantly, local communities are enriched when new families settle in and become part of the neighbourhood; sending their kids to schools, joining clubs, committees and congregations, and adding their unique perspectives to civic life.

#ItTakesACommunity is a campaign to highlight how migrants are working alongside their fellow community members to make the places where they live and work more productive, innovative, caring, safe and welcoming. Along with many of our partners (including Glen Haven Manor - see below!) TBB is very proud to support this beautiful initiative.

If you’d like to join the #ItTakesACommunity campaign, it’s easy! You can take the pledge to support welcoming and inclusive communities for all, then think about how migrants and refugees make your community a better place and share your story on social media using the #ItTakesACommunity hashtag.
